Quick Peek

It all started when I woke up extra early Saturday morning, stretched my arms out from under the covers, smiled (having dreamt of pictures all night long), expecting to see the yellow....but then went, "BLAH!" and threw the covers back over my head. A grey, dark day. Reluctantly...I dragged myself out of bed, checked the weather app on my phone, saw the snowflake icon(!), rolled my eyes and made a double espresso. Extra sugar.

Refusing to let the day get me down, I dragged out my off camera lighting rig and thought. No sun, huh?? Ha! I shall make my own sun! Driving to the session, snowflakes hitting my windshield, heat cranked up, I was even more determined than ever! And, it was only 9:30 a.m.!

As we ventured out to location number one, still overcast, cold and blaaaah, the kids were great sports. And with their smiles and laughter, the sun emerged. We played in the light!! Viola! I was happy again! The simple things.

Enjoy one of my favorite photos from the session with Rachel and Bobby. More to come soon! These kiddos knew
how to work the camera! You guys were faaaaaabulous!

Cha Family...Bigger Peek

I had a wonderful time with this lovely family, who I am honored to say are also my friends:
Two extremely talented and passionate teachers and people with incredibly animated, beautiful,
and delightfully energetic children! These kids have personality and then some! Thanks guys!

Enjoy the photos and their love and energy...so tough to decide which to post!

(Thank you also Christa and Kip for suggesting the cropping on this first photo! Great call!)

Yeah! and Sneak Peek

Yesterday, I learned that my written entry (the answer to the question: Why I love to photograph weddings..), was selected by the beautiful and inspiring, Elizabeth Messina. My prize...a book I cannot wait to have in my hands: Wedding Photography Unveiled: Inspiration and Insight, edited by Jacqueline Tobin (Deputy Editor of Photo District News). It features Elizabeth's work, among many other great photographer's work.
Thank you, Elizabeth!

Here is a sneak peek of the "cha" familia. More to come later. The colors and elation match my emotions!

Winter Engagement Session: Luna and Breton

Baby, it was cccccoooold outside, but we managed to get some great photos!

I had a great time photographing this lovely couple and it was a blast to have a second shooter: Breton's mom, Lois
who is also a wonderful friend, an amazing photographer/artist, and someone whom I admire tremendously.

And...had our fingers not entered the pre-frostbite stage, I think we all could have kept going for hours!

Meet Luna and Breton: sweet, fun, (with moves like catalogue models), and totally willing to freeze their tushes
off! You guys were fabulous and I cannot wait until the wedding! Enjoy the photos!

Holden R.

What high school student couldn't identify with Holden Caulfield? Struggling with what/who is real and what/who is "phony", the inability to control passage of time and how quickly we grow up as life speeds along...I loved that book and still continue to read many of J.D. Salinger's books and stories over and over and over again...great characters are an addiction.

But onto Holden R. and the senior session with one cool and mellow dude. Holden is very creative and had some definite ideas of the shots he wanted, but was also up for anything including checking out a few locations I had already scouted. Add in a couple of his friends (shout out to Wyatt!) and his beautiful dog, Kiya (in Egyptian, Kiya means jovial lady), and let the fun begin!

Enjoy the dramatic light and color and the über-real Holden!
